Postponing the 2022 Smith Lecture
The 2022 Smith Lecture ‘The Race to Change’ originally planned for 15th November has been postponed. We now look forward to welcoming Peter Gibbs and Laura Rademaker to deliver their talks addressing rasicm, in the first half of the New Year.
The Smith Lecture has been a highlight event on the Third Space calendar for many years and we very much look forward to hosting it live and online from The Art Gallery of NSW in 2023. For those who have already purchased tickets, we will provide a full refund. Alternatively, if you would prefer to retain your tickets for the future session please let us know by return email.
The new date will be announced in the coming months, so please do look out for further information. Other details for the lecture remain unchanged, as noted below.
The Smith Lecture 2023
As if we needed any reminder, the ugly sceptre of racism has entered our collective psyche. From the early settlement to the stolen generation, our own history of race relations is not enviable. In the 2023 Smith Lecture, we go beyond the slogans to consider matters of the heart.
What drives racist behaviour, even from men and women of faith? If true reconciliation and equality for First Nations People is the desire, what needs to change? Is there a path forward and is the Christian message part of the problem or the solution?
More information and tickets will be available early in 2023.
