Miley Cyrus' Flowers

More than self-love and self-appreciation can offer

Miley Cyrus sings a very popular song about a relationship gone bad called Flowers. There can be relief when a bad relationship is over, and she sings that she's perfectly happy with her decision—no regrets.

She's comforted that she doesn't need someone else to make herself feel loved and validated—so she can buy herself flowers.

But I think that there is only so much that self-love and self-appreciation can provide.

For eventually, there is a time when we do want to be loved by someone other than just ourselves.

This song reminds me of the ultimate expression of love.

It wasn't the giving of flowers, but Jesus who loved us and gave His own life;

which gives us forgiveness, life and freedom. This is the greatest expression of true love, and is far better than even the biggest bouquet of flowers.
