Rub It Out and Start Again

Overwhelmed by life's mistakes?
Topics

Recently, I was doing a crossword. I thought I was going well until suddenly, I realised I'd made a mistake which, in turn, had led to other mistakes.

I went back and tried to undo one mistake, but that only created another. And then another.

In the end, I gave up—there were too many mistakes to try and undo. I'd used a pen, so there was no rubbing it all out and starting again.

You know, life can sometimes feel a bit like that, can't it?

We look back on our mistakes and realise there are way too many to try and undo. We wish we could rub them all out, but too many are written in pen.

This is why the message of Jesus is such good news;

in His death He takes all our mistakes and rubs them out so we can start again,

which is much better than getting a fresh start on my crossword.
