'What is love' is one of the most popular Google searches, yet it’s actually a really difficult question to answer. Modern science tends to reduce love to chemistry: hormones, neurotransmitters and the emotions we feel.
Yet this ultimately undermines love, for love then becomes selfish - because it’s not love unless I feel something. But love is more than something we feel yet modern science can’t quite fully explain it.
The Bible claims that God is love and that he demonstrates his love through Jesus’ death on the cross. This is the supreme example of love and suggests that the Christian view of reality - where love is more than just emotions - perhaps better explains our experience of love.
