Anthony Asher is an Adjunct Associate Professor at UNSW – having recently retired from paid work. He is the author of “Working Ethically in Finance: Clarifying Our Vocation”, a valuable read for “all those aspiring to cultivate wisdom, self-control and courage”. His career included 23 years of lecturing and 20 years that saw him work for life insurers, consulting actuaries, APRA and even an investment manager. He has been an active participant in professional actuarial bodies in South African and Australia, where he currently serves as a member of the Council of the Actuaries Institute and Convenor of the Retirement Incomes Working Group. He hopes to spend more time this year with his 10 grandchildren and bush walking different parts of the country.
