The syllogism is straight-forward. If God is all-powerful, all-knowing and perfectly good, why does he let so many bad things happen? The ‘problem of evil’ has been called by Hans Kung ‘the rock of atheism’. So where does the parable of the weeds, in which Jesus concedes the presence of evil, leave us all?
