The word ‘Techno’ can be traced back to the Greek work technē meaning art, craft or practical skill – the root word that gave us ‘technology’. Many lawyers are excellent ‘technos’ – they are great technically and experts in practising the craft of the law. But what is the law’s purpose – its telos? Perhaps in our headlong pursuit of technical proficiency we have lost sight of the true meaning and purpose of the law.
